Home delivery meals with Tick of approval
Tender Loving Cuisine provides a home delivery meal service offering ready meals that are endorsed with the Heart Foundation Tick of Approval.
It all started when a close colleague suffered brain damage. Jack Barker knew he wanted to help, but he never envisaged he would end up delivering more than 4500 meals a week.
Mr Barker's friend ended up in Royal North Shore Hospital after a serious car accident but it wasn't until one of the doctors mentioned that, once discharged, patients needed help with healthier meals to assist their recovery, that Mr Barker though about starting such a service.
Jack decided if it was to be a worthwhile service it needed to provide the highest quality meals. The best way was to obtain approval from such organisations as the Heart Foundation, Diabetes Australia-NSW and the Coeliac Society.
Now most hospitals, government agencies, doctors and health professionals recommend their clients to try the TLC service. The meals are home style and taste just like real home cooking with such favourite varieties as Roast Lamb, Roast Pork, Roast Turkey, Homestyle Rissoles, Shepherds Pie, Sausages in Onion Gravy and dozens of other meat, poultry and seafood choices.
TLC has recently added Organic meals to their range because Organic farmers don't use chemicals: they harness the natural ingredients in the soil, resulting in more nutritious and tasty produce.
Their operation has recently extended from Sydney Metro, Central Coast, Newcastle and North Coast to include significant growth from Melbourne.
Jack said 'We are committed to constantly improving the meals we provide and helping people to live at home comfortably without having to go into a nursing home'.
Statistics already show that one person out of every ten is now 60 or above and by 2050 this figure will be one in five.
As the baby boomers, those born between 1945 and 1960, hit 60 they are set to become the convenience or 'home delivery' generation.
The majority of baby boomers believe they will continue working and also continue living in their own home during the 'golden years'. No nursing homes for them.
This type of lifestyle represents good news for Tender Loving Cuisine, with Sydney and now Melbourne's fastest-growing home delivery meal provider.
TLC's Jack Barker said the importance of eating nutritionally balanced food was a list topper to baby boomers. 'Instead of resorting to unhealthy take-away food or tinned and other fast food that can be lacking in taste and nutrition, TLC provides a tasty premium quality home delivered alternative' he said.
