Kathleen Delivers Tender Loving Care
By Katrina Adamski
Kathleen Kinchington clocks up many kilometres every week traveling from western Sydney to deliver meals to elderly North Shore residents.
For nine years she has travelled 230kms each week from her home to Penrith to deliver dinners for Tender Loving Cuisine, a prepared meals supplier.
Mrs. Kinchington, 58, uses her own car to deliver the ready-to-eat meals, picking them up from the factory at Marrickville and delivering them to clients from as far west as Emu Plains right through to Wahroonga.
She often surprises her clients with a special gift as well and their reactions touch her heart.
"It may be just a covered coat hanger, but I had one lady whose tears began to flow out and she couldn't thank me enough," Mrs. Kinchington said.
"She didn't want me to go and even followed me out to the gate, still thanking me.
"I think that's what makes Christmas the best time of the year ? people are just so grateful when you show up with their meals and their eyes light up when you come with a gift as well."
She said there were a lot of lonely people who enjoyed the companionship.
"I like to spend time with them, not just drop off a meal and go," Mrs. Kinchington said.
