TLC Output Increase Will Aid Elderly
Increased production of home delivered meals from Tender Loving Cuisine (TLC) is good news for the elderly and disabled of Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast.
Tender Loving Cuisine's chefs are cranking up the production wheel to meet demand from clients of the fast-growing meals-on-wheels alternative.
A new heat sealing machine is now in operation and two staff added as a direct result of more orders for the range of delicious dinners offered by TLC.
Chef David Peake said yesterday the new Helix heat sealing machine was a real boost to the production process.
"It triples the production of our old machine," Mr. Peake said.
"We are getting busier so the new machine is essential; as is two new staff.
The extra staff has been employed to pack the meals."
CEO Jack Barker said yesterday a fast and efficient heat sealing process was critical to the production of top quality meals for TLC clients.
"The combination of the new machinery and extra packing staff will help alleviate any potential production bottlenecks as orders increase," he said.
"It's all part of our goal of providing top quality home-delivered meals to the elderly and disabled."
TLC's chefs use only fresh vegetables purchased straight from the markets, which are cooked in a new Combination Steam Cooker. All cooked products are immediately chilled to prevent bacteria build-up, then plated and sealed.
The dinners are finally 'blast frozen' to preserve the natural texture and ensure that they taste perfect.
The meals all include heating instructions and serving suggestions and have been prepared so you can heat and serve in around six minutes using a microwave or 30 minutes with a conventional oven.
TLC implements all appropriate health controls and is fully HACCP certified.
Twice a month TLC's nutrition manager Maria Natoli and co-worker Helen Young visit with the chefs at the factory to assess quality control and address any food issues.
TLC then uses an army of delivery drivers to ensure the meals arrive on time to clients. TLC drivers will even place the meals in the freezer for its clients.
Gai Cridland said: "The meals are great. The people who get them every week love them. I think you would have to be very fussy to knock them back."
The range of 28 TLC dinners include mouth-watering roasts such as Roast Lamb, Roast Turkey, Roast Beef and Roast Pork plus Mild Chicken Curry, Apricot Chicken, Homestyle Rissoles, Pineapple Chicken, Lamb Casserole, Crumbed Fish and Wedges, Indian Style Lamb and Baked Ocean Fish.
Meals can be ordered on line through the website at www.tlc.org.au.
