Tender Recipe For Success
By Alison Branley
TENDER beef and a bit of loving care have proved to be a winning recipe for a new meal service.
Tender Loving Cuisine is a new gourmet service which offers personal attention on the side.
It began in Sydney in 1995, in conjunction with NSW Health.
It has many Heart-Foundation Tick approved meals including roast lamb, beef, pork, mild chicken curry, casserole or fish.
Brian and Pam Banwell of Chain Valley Bay, became couriers with the Central Coast branch in September 2004.
They deliver meals to 23 clients between Buff Point and Ettalong Beach on Fridays.
Mr. Banwell said he was attracted to Tender Loving Cuisine because he wanted to do something for others.
"This seemed like a really good way to spend our day," he said.
"But it's not a simple matter of delivering meals and leaving them on the doorstep.
We always take them in and make sure the client is happy. Pam has even put eye drops in one client's eyes and helped pick clothing for our blind client.
We are always up for a chat because our clients are such lovely people."
Mr. Banwell is still on the beat despite suffering a heart attack during a recent round of deliveries.
He was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital by the Westpac rescue helicopter.
"To be able to help someone less fortunate is great for my rehab," he said.Inquiries: 1800 801 200.
